Large Group Table (Escape Room-Style) Games are for…well…large groups.
Here’s the breakdown.
Groups sit at their own tables. Most of what they need for the game, if not everything, is on their table (intro, puzzles, clues, etc.). Groups are not only looking to finish the game, but often they are trying to finish before the other groups.
There are a couple of ways these games can be set up.
1. Everything is on the table including minimal props, laminated papers, writing paper, and locked boxes. The group plays the game together. Occasionally, one of the players may need to go to a community table or take a look at a poster on a wall to get more info, but for the most part, everyone stays at the table. When the game is complete, the group will have a code to open a locked box that is in the front or middle of the room.
2. Alternatively, at the front of the room are multiple locked boxes that are numbered. Teams start with a packet at their table. The packet contains info and a puzzle or two. When they complete it, they have the code to open one of the boxes at the front of the room. When they open the box, they take their next packet and re-lock the box for the next group. They take that packet back to the table. When that one is complete, they have the code to open the next box. The first group to open the last box, wins.
For a large group table game, you can create your own, purchase a specific large group (or mega) escape room-style game (there are a few out there), or if you want to go the inexpensive route, purchase a print-and-play game on Etsy.
The advantage of a game like this is that it engages big groups. It can be an all-camp activity, a family community event, a school event, or a corporate event.
